GRP Open Mesh Grating
Engineered Composites supplies GRP open mesh grating manufactured for access platforms, walkways, service trenches, and flooring in environments where steel would corrode or create a conductivity hazard. The panels are produced using isophthalic or vinylester resin systems with quartz grit embedded into the top surface, delivering reliable slip resistance in wet, oily or chemically aggressive conditions.
Open mesh grating is one of the most widely specified products in the ECL range and is held in UK stock across multiple mesh sizes, depths and panel dimensions for fast nationwide delivery. Panels can be supplied as standard sizes or cut to specification, with free cut-to-size available on all stocked grades.
Complete Open Mesh GRP Grating Solutions
Engineered Composites supplies GRP open mesh grating in 38x38mm and 50x50mm mesh sizes, available in depths of 25mm, 38mm and 50mm to suit varying span and load requirements. Panels are manufactured to BS EN 4592 and are compatible with all standard GRP fixing and clamping systems. The isophthalic polyester resin construction delivers excellent resistance to acids, alkalis and hydrocarbons, making these panels a reliable long-term choice for chemical plants, water treatment facilities, rail infrastructure and marine environments.
UK stock is held across the full range for rapid project delivery. Panels are available in grey, green and yellow, with yellow safety colour commonly specified for edge marking and hazard zones on industrial sites. All open mesh grating is supplied with an embedded quartz grit anti-slip surface as standard and is up to 75% lighter than an equivalent steel panel.

Maintenance-Free Durability
GRP open mesh grating resists corrosion, moisture, and chemical attack, delivering long service life without painting, sealing or ongoing maintenance.
Electrical Safety and Fire Performance
GRP grating is electrically non-conductive throughout. Fire-retardant grades classified to EN 13501-1 are available on request, making these panels suitable for rail, data centres and electrically sensitive enclosed environments.
Lightweight and Fast to Install
At up to 75% lighter than steel, GRP open mesh grating panels are easy to handle and quick to install, reducing programme time and lifting equipment requirements on site.
GRP Open Mesh Grating for Industrial and Infrastructure Projects
Engineered Composites is one of the UK’s largest stockists of GRP open mesh grating. Panels are supplied from UK stock for fast project delivery and are widely used across water treatment, rail, marine, data centre, and general industrial applications where corrosion resistance, safe underfoot performance, and low maintenance costs are the primary specification drivers.
High Slip Resistance For Safer Surfaces
Quartz grit bonded into the panel surface delivers reliable traction in wet, oily and high-traffic conditions, suitable for walkways, platforms, trenches and service access areas.
Lightweight Panels, Fast Installation
GRP open mesh grating is significantly lighter than steel, making it straightforward to handle and install without specialist lifting equipment. Panels can be cut to size on site using standard tools.
UK Stock and Next-Day Delivery
Engineered Composites holds large stocks of GRP open mesh grating across multiple sizes and depths. Nationwide delivery ensures project programmes receive materials when they are needed.
Chemical and Corrosion Resistance
Manufactured with isophthalic or vinylester resin systems, ECL open mesh grating withstands acids, alkalis, salts and hydrocarbons, making it the correct choice for aggressive or chemically active environments.

Common Applications for GRP Open Mesh Grating
GRP open mesh grating is used across a wide range of industrial and infrastructure environments where slip resistance, corrosion resistance, and low maintenance are required.
Industrial Flooring & Walkways
Durable, anti-slip flooring for factory floors, plant rooms, and walkways in wet, oily, or chemically active environments where steel grating would corrode or require ongoing maintenance.
Water Treatment & Utilities
Resistant to chlorine, H2S, and constant moisture. Suitable for tank covers, pump station platforms, and valve access walkways within treatment works and pumping stations.
Chemical & Pharmaceutical Plants
Withstands aggressive chemicals and corrosive atmospheres without coating failure. A direct replacement for steel grating where chemical exposure would accelerate corrosion.
Marine & Offshore Platforms
Saltwater resistant and non-magnetic. Suitable for jetty decking, vessel walkways, and offshore platform flooring where conventional materials deteriorate quickly.
Stair Treads & Risers
Integral anti-slip surface minimises accident risk on stair treads and risers in multi-level industrial structures. Can be integrated into existing structures or used in new builds.
Rail & Trackside Infrastructure
Non-conductive throughout with no earthing required. Safe for use near live equipment on trackside walkways, station platforms, and depot maintenance areas.
Electrical Substations & Data Centres
Non-conductive and non-magnetic flooring with no interference to electrical signals or sensitive equipment in substation and data centre environments.
Rooftop & Mezzanine Access
Lightweight installation with no hot works required. Suitable for rooftop plant access, mezzanine level flooring, and elevated walkways around machinery and loading bays.

What Clients Say About Our Company
EXCELLENT Based on 10 reviews Posted on Peter Nicholson20/04/2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The firm and staff were all excellent, the product was very well finished and all the advice given was very helpful, unfortunately it turned out to be of no use for my application, but this in no way reflects on the company that made an excellent product, I wanted a long tube to put an aerial inside it, fibreglass is normally transparent to radio signals, but something in the make up of the fibreglass tube was totally blocking the radio signals from getting out of the tube, the problem is possibly to do with the colouring agent, the tube I had was grey, darker colours can often cause problems for aerials, possibly if I'd chosen yellow, the other colour offered by the firm it may have worked well, but all this is my problem, not the company that made the tube, the tube is Very well made and nicely finished off, the staff could not have been more helpful, despite my problems this is a Highly Recommended firm.
