Fire Retardant BS476 : part 7 : 1997 Class 2

Our GRP Fire Retardant profiles are to Fire Retardant BS476 : part 7 : 1997 Class 2 specification. They have an E modulus of E23 if they are over 5mm thick and they are also NON Halogenated.  Therefore they will not omit toxic fumes if they do catch fire. These are generally used in areas where there is a high risk if a fire should establish itself.

What sectors do you serve?

We serve a multitude of sectors including transport, manufacturing, construction, marine, railway, leisure, renewable energy, electrical, telecommunications, water, and many more.

Are GRP fire retardant profiles suitable for outdoor applications?

Yes, GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) fire retardant profiles are generally suitable for outdoor applications. However, their suitability depends on various factors, including the specific type of GRP material used and the environmental conditions they will be exposed to. Considerations may include; material selection, UV resistance, and maintenance.

Can GRP fire retardant profiles be customised?

Yes, GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) fire retardant profiles can typically be customised to meet your specific project requirements. Here at Engineered Composites, we provide a high level of flexibility with customisation. Some common ways in which GRP fire retardant profiles can be customised include; size, shape, colour, accessories and attachments.

How are GRP fire retardant profiles made fire-resistant?

GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) fire retardant profiles are made fire-resistant through a combination of materials, additives, and manufacturing techniques. The goal is to reduce the flammability and enhance the fire resistance of the profiles.

How are GRP fire retardant profiles different from regular GRP profiles?

GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) fire retardant profiles differ from regular GRP profiles primarily in their ability to resist fire and meet specific fire safety standards. Regular GRP profiles do not possess these fire-resistant properties and can potentially support combustion. Fire retardant profiles are used in applications where fire safety is a critical concern, while regular GRP profiles may be used in non-fire-sensitive environments.

What is the lifespan of GRP fire retardant profiles?

The lifespan of GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) fire retardant profiles can vary depending on several factors, including the quality of materials used, environmental conditions, maintenance practices, and the specific application. However, well-maintained profiles in moderate environments can often last for several decades.
