Engineered Composites supplies GRP modular handrail systems manufactured from 51mm square box section pultruded profiles assembled with injection-moulded GRP fittings. The system provides compliant edge protection to BS 6180 for industrial access platforms, walkways, mezzanine floors, and rail trackside structures.

Components are available from UK stock in yellow and grey. The modular design allows handrail runs to be cut to length, configured at corners, and assembled on site without specialist tools or skills. Posts are fixed to the platform structure via base plates. The system is compatible with all ECL grating and profile access platform components, allowing a complete non-conductive, corrosion-free structure to be supplied from one source.

Modular GRP Handrail for Industrial and Infrastructure Applications

The ECL GRP modular handrail system uses 51mm square box section rails and a range of injection-moulded fitting types to create compliant handrail runs across platforms, walkways, and access structures of any configuration. Posts are spaced at a maximum of 1.5m centres and base plates are available in two-hole and three-hole variants in yellow and grey.

All components comply with BS 6180 for barriers and guard rails in and about buildings and BS EN ISO 14122-3 for safety of machinery permanent means of access. For projects requiring independently tested and verified handrail performance to Public Assembly loading standards, ECL’s ENGRail 51mm modular system has been tested to 1.657 kN/m load capacity at 25mm deflection, the world’s first GRP handrail verified to Public Assembly standards.
