What Clients Say About Our Company
EXCELLENT Based on 10 reviews Peter Nicholson20/04/2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The firm and staff were all excellent, the product was very well finished and all the advice given was very helpful, unfortunately it turned out to be of no use for my application, but this in no way reflects on the company that made an excellent product, I wanted a long tube to put an aerial inside it, fibreglass is normally transparent to radio signals, but something in the make up of the fibreglass tube was totally blocking the radio signals from getting out of the tube, the problem is possibly to do with the colouring agent, the tube I had was grey, darker colours can often cause problems for aerials, possibly if I'd chosen yellow, the other colour offered by the firm it may have worked well, but all this is my problem, not the company that made the tube, the tube is Very well made and nicely finished off, the staff could not have been more helpful, despite my problems this is a Highly Recommended firm. FAQs About GRP Rods and Tubes
GRP Rods and Tubes are made from high-quality glass reinforced plastic, offering exceptional durability and strength across a wide range of applications. One of the standout properties of GRP is its high corrosion and chemical resistance, making it ideal for use in harsh industrial, marine, and chemical processing environments. These materials are also non-conductive, thermally stable, and lightweight, making them perfect for electrical enclosures and underground installations. Additional material properties include UV stability, low thermal conductivity, excellent weather resistance, and high elastic recovery, making GRP profiles a robust, low-maintenance alternative to traditional materials like steel or timber.
GRP Tubes and Rods are incredibly versatile and used across numerous industries including water treatment, electrical engineering, rail infrastructure, telecommunications, marine platforms, and green energy systems such as solar and wind power. Thanks to their non-conductive and corrosion-resistant nature, these profiles are ideal for environments exposed to chemicals, moisture, or high electrical loads. They’re commonly found in measurement and filtration technology, agricultural structures, and cable management systems. At Engineered Composites, we offer GRP Tubes and Rods in a variety of standard and custom colours including black, white, and yellow, ensuring they suit both functional and visual project requirements.
GRP rods outperform traditional materials like wood or aluminium in strength, stability, and longevity. Unlike timber, GRP does not rot, warp, or absorb moisture, and unlike metal, it won’t corrode or conduct electricity. This makes GRP the preferred choice in safety-critical and moisture-prone environments such as waterworks, substations, and marine installations. Additionally, GRP rods are lightweight and easier to handle, transport, and install—reducing labour and logistical costs. These rods require no ongoing maintenance and are fire-retardant, UV-resistant, and safe in electrically sensitive areas. Simply put, GRP rods offer the strength of steel without its drawbacks.

Yes, GRP Tubes and Rods are specifically designed to perform in high-temperature and corrosive environments, making them ideal for sectors like chemical processing, wastewater treatment, and offshore installations. Engineered from glass reinforced plastic, these components are inherently resistant to acids, alkalis, solvents, and saltwater exposure. In thermally sensitive environments, GRP maintains dimensional stability and mechanical strength without degrading. Unlike metal tubes, which are prone to corrosion or heat-induced deformation, GRP profiles remain robust, safe, and maintenance-free. This makes them a preferred material choice for long-term reliability in aggressive or high-risk industrial applications.
Absolutely. All GRP Tubes and Rods supplied by Engineered Composites comply with key UK and EU safety and performance regulations, including EN 13706 for structural profiles and ASTM E84 for fire performance (where required). Our products also meet guidelines for electrical insulation, UV resistance, and chemical stability, ensuring suitability across public infrastructure, transportation, and utilities sectors. In addition to meeting technical specifications, we provide datasheets, test reports, and compliance certificates to help contractors and engineers meet regulatory obligations on-site. Safety, durability, and certification are integral to every GRP product we manufacture and deliver.
