ENGRail 51mm Modular Handrail System

Engineered for safe access infrastructure, the ENGrail 51 mm GRP modular handrail system delivers corrosion resistance, structural strength and low maintenance in demanding industrial environments.

Industrial access platform on construction site

The ENGRail 51mm Box Section Modular Handrail System is
a new-generation GRP pultruded handrail engineered for the
most demanding industrial, rail, marine, and infrastructure applications.

Engineered Composites’ GRP modular handrail system sets
a new standard for high performance non metallic safety
barriers. Precision pultruded for strength and consistency, it delivers impressive load capacity while remaining significantly lighter than steel, allowing faster installation with reduced
manual handling risk. Designed for demanding infrastructure
environments, it provides dependable structural integrity across walkways, platforms, staircases, and roof perimeters.

ENGRail 51mm Box Section Modular Handrail System

Product Overview

ENGRail is a high-performance GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) pultruded modular handrail system designed to exceed the structural performance of both traditional steel and conventional GRP handrails.

Manufactured using precision pultrusion technology, the system delivers consistent structural performance and high load capacity while maintaining a lightweight profile that significantly reduces installation time and manual handling requirements.

The 51mm box section profile provides superior stiffness compared to round tube systems, resulting in enhanced load performance and structural stability.

Independent testing confirms that the system exceeds all UK and international load standards while achieving 100% elastic recovery, ensuring the handrail returns to its original position after load removal.

Key Features & Benefits

Structural Load Performance

ENGRail delivers a load capacity of 1.657 kN/m at 25 mm deflection, meeting and exceeding the safety requirements for public assembly barriers under relevant UK standards.

Elastic Structural Recovery

The GRP structure returns to its original position after load removal with no permanent deformation, maintaining long term structural integrity even under repeated loading.

Corrosion-Resistant Construction

Unlike steel systems, GRP does not rust, corrode, or degrade when exposed to moisture, coastal environments, or aggressive industrial chemicals, ensuring a long service life with minimal maintenance.

Lightweight Design

At approximately 25% of the weight of steel, ENGRail significantly reduces installation time, simplifies handling on site, and lowers structural loading requirements for walkways, platforms and access systems.

Non-Conductive Safety

GRP construction ensures the system is electrically non-conductive and non-magnetic, improving safety in rail, utilities, substations and other environments with sensitive electrical infrastructure.

Advanced Fire Performance

ENGRail profiles are manufactured using fire-retardant resin systems and assessed using modern fire classification approaches that consider flame spread, smoke production and burning droplets, supporting compliance with the BS EN 13501 reaction-to-fire framework.
