What Clients Say About Our Company
EXCELLENT Based on 10 reviews Peter Nicholson20/04/2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The firm and staff were all excellent, the product was very well finished and all the advice given was very helpful, unfortunately it turned out to be of no use for my application, but this in no way reflects on the company that made an excellent product, I wanted a long tube to put an aerial inside it, fibreglass is normally transparent to radio signals, but something in the make up of the fibreglass tube was totally blocking the radio signals from getting out of the tube, the problem is possibly to do with the colouring agent, the tube I had was grey, darker colours can often cause problems for aerials, possibly if I'd chosen yellow, the other colour offered by the firm it may have worked well, but all this is my problem, not the company that made the tube, the tube is Very well made and nicely finished off, the staff could not have been more helpful, despite my problems this is a Highly Recommended firm. FAQs About GRP Mesh Fencing
What is GRP mesh fencing and how is it different from metal mesh?
GRP mesh fencing is a modern composite security system made from glass reinforced plastic, designed to outperform traditional steel or wire mesh. Unlike metal, it is non conductive, corrosion resistant and lightweight, which makes it easier to handle and faster to install. GRP mesh maintains strength and visibility while eliminating rust, painting and maintenance costs. It offers a professional, long lasting finish, making it the preferred choice for contractors who want a safe, sustainable and cost effective perimeter solution.
Is GRP mesh fencing safe near electrical systems or high voltage equipment?
Yes. GRP mesh is completely non conductive and eliminates the need for earthing or bonding, making it safe for installation near substations, rail infrastructure and power distribution areas. The mesh design also maintains airflow and visibility without interfering with electrical equipment. For safety critical environments, GRP mesh fencing provides reliable protection without the risks of electrical conduction or arcing associated with metal fencing systems.
Does GRP mesh fencing need grounding or earthing?
No. GRP mesh fencing is made from non conductive composite material, meaning it will not carry an electrical current. This property removes the need for grounding or earthing altogether, which reduces installation complexity and cost. It is one of the key advantages of using GRP mesh for electrical, telecom and industrial environments where safety and compliance are essential.
Can mesh panels be supplied pre made or cut to size on site?
Yes. GRP mesh fencing from Engineered Composites can be supplied pre made for fast installation or delivered in modular form for on site assembly. Panels are lightweight and easy to cut to size using standard tools, making them ideal for complex layouts or confined spaces. This flexibility allows contractors to complete installations quickly and efficiently while maintaining full compliance and visual consistency across the project.
What mesh sizes and aperture options are available?
GRP mesh panels can be supplied in a range of standard and custom apertures, typically between 40 mm and 60 mm, depending on security and visibility requirements. Smaller apertures enhance anti climb protection, while larger openings improve airflow and line of sight for surveillance. Panels can also be tailored to suit project specific needs, with matching GRP posts and fixings supplied for complete mesh fencing systems.
How strong is GRP mesh fencing under load and impact?
GRP mesh panels are designed for high strength and stability under load. Each system is tested for wind resistance, impact performance and structural deflection to meet British and European standards. The composite material absorbs impact without bending or denting, unlike steel mesh. GRP mesh fencing retains its shape and integrity even in exposed locations, providing reliable perimeter protection for long term use.
What is the maximum span between posts for GRP mesh fencing?
How durable is GRP mesh fencing in corrosive environments?
GRP mesh is exceptionally durable in corrosive, coastal or chemical environments. The composite structure is unaffected by salt spray, acids, alkalis and industrial pollutants. Unlike metal mesh, it will never rust, pit or peel, maintaining its finish for decades. This makes GRP mesh fencing a proven long term solution for water treatment plants, marine facilities, chemical sites and other demanding locations.
Does mesh fencing need painting or maintenance?
No. GRP mesh fencing requires virtually no maintenance. The panels are pigmented during manufacture, ensuring long term colour stability without the need for repainting. They resist corrosion, weathering and UV degradation, maintaining their appearance and performance over decades. Occasional cleaning with mild detergent is all that is required, saving time and reducing lifetime operating costs compared with steel or timber systems.
Can access gates be integrated into a GRP mesh fence line?
Can GRP mesh fencing be installed on slopes or uneven ground?
Yes. GRP mesh panels can be adjusted easily to follow ground contours or stepped where required. The modular design and lightweight construction make it ideal for uneven terrain without the need for specialist machinery. Surface mounted or embedded post options provide flexibility for installation across a wide range of site conditions.
What is the lead time for GRP mesh fencing?
Engineered Composites holds extensive UK stock of GRP mesh panels, posts and accessories. Standard sizes are available for immediate dispatch, and bespoke configurations can be manufactured quickly. Our short lead times help contractors maintain project schedules and avoid costly delays, ensuring fast delivery and reliable service across the UK.
How does GRP mesh fencing improve site visibility and airflow?
The open mesh design allows unrestricted visibility and ventilation while maintaining a strong perimeter barrier. This makes GRP mesh ideal for security monitored sites, preventing concealment and allowing natural air movement around equipment. The design also reduces wind loading, improving structural performance and reducing the number of posts required.
Is GRP mesh fencing non magnetic and safe for telecom or radar sites?
Yes. GRP mesh is non magnetic and transparent to radio, radar and microwave signals, making it ideal for telecom, data and defence applications. Unlike steel mesh, it will not interfere with sensitive equipment or reduce signal quality. This property, combined with its non conductive structure, ensures GRP mesh fencing is the preferred choice for communication and control installations.
What standards and certifications apply to GRP mesh fencing?
GRP mesh fencing is manufactured using profiles compliant with BS EN 13706 and tested for fire safety to Class 2 under BS 476. Systems are structurally verified for load and impact performance in line with British and European requirements. All products are produced under ISO 9001 quality management, ensuring consistent strength, safety and reliability across every project.
